Wikidata is an open, Semantic Web-compatible database that anyone, humans and machines alike, can edit.  This ‘data commons’ provides structured data for Wikipedia articles and other applications. The Gene wiki project is using Wikidata to provide the life science community a central hub to structured, public and linked biomedical knowledge.

The webinar will address how this is done and how this integrates with related projects covering research citation or general data. It will also present the Wikibase which is the underlying infrastructure upon which Wikidata runs. Wikibase is available as open software, allowing its use outside Wikidata.
