This workshop will provide an interactive forum to discuss, review and gain an overview of Open Source and Software Development and will be based on content from the ELIXIR Software Development Best Practices group and aims to explore how to harmonise EMBL-ABR efforts in this area. Participants will reflect together on their own experiences and discuss what are the challenges, mechanisms and recognition systems are for those who get involved in open source. We would like to use this also as an opportunity to further define what would be the best practice model in terms of software development when it comes to activities under EMBL-ABR.

Bioinformaticians involved with software development are the target audience.
