Webinar series: National bioinformatics communities in ELIXIR
Date: 24 September - 6 October 2020
The three-part webinar series is aimed at researchers working in universities and research institutes in Romania. It will present the structure of ELIXIR and the benefits of ELIXIR membership to research organisations and individual researchers. The participation is free of charge, registration is required for each of the three sessions.
The webinar is specifically targeted at Romanian research community. If you don't work in Romania but would like to organise a similar session for researchers in your country, please contact Andrew Smith, ELIXIR Head of External Relations, at andrew.smith@elixir-europe.org.
Session 1: Opportunities for collaboration and funding
The first session introduced the ELIXIR infrastructure, its structure and the different types of collaboration activities members of ELIXIR Nodes can get involved. It also explained how researchers from outside of ELIXIR can engage with the ELIXIR and contribute to ELIXIR initiatives. The session also presented experiences from other ELIXIR Nodes, highlighting funding and training opportunities.

Session 2: Collaboration in human genomics and translational data
The second session will present the ELIXIR Human Data Communities and highlight some of ELIXIR initiatives in this area. The topics to be discussed include Federated data infrastructure or ELIXIR contribution to COVID-19 research.

Session 3: Collaboration in Plant sciences
The third session will present the ELIXIR Plant Science Community and the tools and services it develops. The presentations will cover findability and integration of plan genetic data, metadata standards, or data management for plant phenotyping projects.
